Dear Everyone,

Many of you have been with us for years, and some of you have been with us for the whole decade. What a wonderful gift that has been.

It is with love, gratitude, and deep sadness that we deliver the following message.

Bookfight, our newest record, comes out today, and it is the last record we will make.

The hours we've spent making records have been some of the most engaging, demanding, rewarding hours of our lives. They have also been some of the most exhausting and confusing. The effort has always been worth it, and Bookfight is no exception. We have called it the most vibrant and diverse set of songs we've ever recorded, and that is true. But we are not the same people at twenty-three we were at thirteen, and though in many ways we are now better friends, we have less in common. We live in different cities, listen to different kinds of music, write different kinds of songs. Getting us all to agree on anything musical is something of a miracle.

In this way, this is a record of sixteen minor miracles. We think that in most contexts they wouldn't all belong on the same record. They would be too diverse. So for months we wrestled with songs to release and which to withhold. But finally we realized something special about *this* context, and we realized we couldn't withhold a single song.

The context is the familiar. You know us. In this context these songs belong, because they are our last words as a band to you. They are the last songs that place and growth will allow us to make together.

So at this time we are looking back with great gratitude, but also ahead with respect and support for one another knowing that we need now to move in different directions. Your support as friends and fans means more now than ever. We cannot thank you enough for all you've given us over the years, and we hope we've given you music and memories in return. All the music we've ever recorded is here:

PS

We will still be playing shows from time to time, though probably only in Ithaca. And don't think we won't still be making appearances on each other's records.

Bookfight cover.
